Project 365 My Way

Like many of you I tried to get one of Becky Higgins Project 365 Kits. I wasn't even close to getting one. I had already resigned myself to do this project, so I decided that I could do it on my own. I was able to find some 12x12 page protectors (Style E) from I Remember When, I also got a 12x12 D ring binder from We R Memory Keepers. Then I was off to the races.

I used the following supplies as the base of my Project:
1. StazOn ink (black and white)
2. Tim Holtz Distress Ink (milled Lavender)
3. Bo Bunny Circle the Date stamps
4. 4x6 Index Cards
5. a rotary date stamp

For the title page I went to www.wordle.net and made a word cloud with synonyms for scrapbook. It is a fabulous site, you should definitely check it out. I also used two handmade cards that I purchased from www.etsy.com another fabulous site for supporting the arts. The base of my album are the 4x6 index cards which have been corner rounded and distressed with Tim Holtz milled lavender Distress Ink.

I found the Bo Bunny Circle the Date stamp in a scrapbook store in Nanaimo. There was a Christmas Sale in a snowstorm. I was the only customer. It was a good shopping day. I came up with the design of "the week of " page that I liked and use it throughout the album. I used the rotary date stamp and the StazOn ink to put a date on each picture. I then cut the index cards in half, corner round and distress, and use them to journal. I think it looks just like Becky Higgins' kit. I used the black StazOn ink to label the light coloured photos and the white StazOn to label the dark photos. All the photos are labelled in the bottom right hand corner.
My plan for this album is to use the same base elements for every week page and then do some different treatments and embellishments on the 4x6 index cards.

I also decided to add some spice to the blank photos with some stamping. This week I tried some different treatments. I brushed the index cards with Making Memories Scrapbook Colors manila. I also used the Tim Holtz Distress Ink to shadow stamp some images on the cards.

I haven't totally caught up yet. I am sharing this project with my friends through Facebook. I have an album there with all of the photos. They seem to like it. I like the sharing and the feedback about the pictures.

I am really enjoying this project and hope that others will try it. Remember it doesn't have to be a daily picture you could do a Project 52 and just take weekly photos. I think it's a fabulous idea for people with kids. It would be great to see how much they change over time. Enjoy!
